The Redevelopment of the Sonoma Developmental Center is the largest project to be proposed for Sonoma Valley in many years. All three alternatives proposed by Permit Sonoma are inconsistent with the rural community of Glen Ellen, are extremely unpopular, and would cause impacts throughout Sonoma Valley and beyond. None would provide more than 25% affordable housing.

Citizens have asked for a truly transformative project that respects the site constraints, meets local needs, and matches the community's vision as well as that expressed in the State legislation on the site's disposition.

The North Sonoma Valley Municipal Advisory Council recently sent a letter to the Supervisors detailing a community-supported alternative and asking that the planning process be extended and creative financing options explored (link below)

On January 25th, Sonoma County Supervisors will be considering a "preferred alternative."
