Permanent Makeup Artists and Tattoo Artists in Sonoma County have been shut down twice due to COVID-19. We have worked a mere 13 weeks so far in 2019.

Body Art Practitioner Permits and Body Art Facility Permits run upwards of $675 annually. 

The Board of Supervisors determine the costs of these licenses and therefore can also make the determination to prorate the costs of our licenses for the time we’ve been allowed to operate.

For most of us, this is our sole source of income and we’ve struggled to keep our shops and studios afloat during the closures. We’ve had to cover the cost of our leases, our insurance and administrative costs. Very few of us saw any relief from SBA programs and many have not received any Pandemic Unemployment Assistance. Some of us have sadly had to close up shop altogether. Our dreams for our businesses has been cut off at the knees. 

We implore the county supervisors to extend to us some relief from the already exorbitant costs of renewing our permits and prorate the costs determined by the weeks we’ve been able to open our doors. This relief may mean the difference between returning to the jobs and clients we love or closing our doors forever.
