I believe that income inequality is one of the greatest threats facing families across our country. Those in the food service industry typically earn low wages and often times they struggle to survive even with tips. I recently stopped at a Sonic Drive-In and used my debit card to pay because I had absolutely no cash on hand. I was unable to tip my carhop as a result because there is no option to do so. My food arrived and was delivered by a middle-aged woman who looked as though she had been working all day. This is unfair to her and others working at Sonic Drive-In establishments because most people no longer use cash when making purchases. I understand that the minimum wage needs to be adjusted and that is a cause that I will continue to embrace. However, in the meantime, the very least I can do is demand that companies like this take steps to ensure workers are able to adequately receive tips. Let's stand with Sonic workers! #FreeTheTips
