Ban Traveling Circuses in Somerset County

A few months ago, LOHV-NJ started a circus campaign in Somerset County. LOHV-NJ Regional District Director Laurie Perla gave a circus presentation to the Freeholders and county residents came out to support the effort. At this point, we need all hands on deck because the Freeholders are resistant to enacting a ban.

They think this is a symbolic gesture because they haven't had circuses in many years. If they don't pass a ban, all of Somerset County will be a haven for circuses and attract them to the area.

LOHV-NJ has worked hard to pass bans in Bergen, Cumberland, Passaic and Hudson counties. The city of Vineland and Clifton have all passed a circus ban on public lands. Jersey City passed a ban on both private and public lands. This is momentum.

Sadly, until we get bans everywhere, smaller circuses will continue to abuse animals and travel to many cities. This is why we need YOU to help with Somerset County!
