Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council (SMBC) is publishing its Local Development Plan (LDP) and Allocation 4, which refers to 'Land West of Dickens Heath' is a preferred development site.

This site, which will see the development of 350 homes, will be built on land that incorporates three sports clubs, with several playing pitches (rugby and football). The proposals show the replacement of just two playing pitches - this is contrary to SMBC's Planning Policy P20, which requires at least a re-provision or replacement of such recreational facilities.

In addition, the already gridlocked roads of Dickens Heath, Majors Green and Shirley will not be able to accommodate the extra traffic this development will bring.
