The Issue

Please help us in objecting ANOTHER; new proposal for an 8-story high, mixed residential/Care accommodation on Stratford Road High-Street in Shirley (Morrisons Site).

A number of Shirley residents are increasingly concerned about the number of new accommodation developments being built along the Stratford Road in Shirley, Solihull.

'MACC Living' have recently proposed yet another huge development on the old Morrisons supermarket site containing;

85 one and two bedroom apartments.
30 purpose built accommodation apartments for older people.
A care home with up to 90 beds, with one floor devoted to specialist dementia care.

Many residents of Shirley are more concerned with the lack of affordable house's for young people, the lack of school spaces in the area, our high-street retail shops closing, lack of GP's, and the impact these developments have on traffic in the area.

Not only this, no prior consultation has been given to the residents directly behind or next to this site, many of the residents are greatly concerned by the impact this massive 8 story building will have on their privacy, peace and well-being, and house prices.

Many within Shirley will understand and agree that the use of brown-belt land can be put to better use than for it to remain an empty supermarket. However, a vast building such as this, is completely unrealistic and quite frankly an eyesore, for our residents. Surely there can be a compromised plan agreed on for this site to suit all residents of Shirley.

Shirley residents, please sign our petition, share you voice on this and support us in objection of this monstrosity being built on our high-street.

We also would really appreciate it if you could give feedback to this proposed development directly to MACC Living at hillfieldplace.co.uk or click on the link below:
