Solid Waste Management at Alabel National Science High School

The Issue

Solid waste is defined as the production of materials that remain after being used just once. Due to the consumption of natural resources, the production of waste and pollution, and economic development, the majority of nations suffer from significant environmental effects.

Managing solid waste continues to be one of the problems in the Philippines, specifically in urban areas. One of the biggest issues in the country is the lack of disposal facilities. Other major issues include poor waste management and ineffective waste collection. Given that a significant portion of the waste produced is made of plastic, plastic pollution has emerged as one of the country's most urgent environmental challenges.

As responsible citizens and science high school students, it is very important to remind our fellow citizens and schoolmates to remember that we should always execute the SWM principles appropriately. Since environmental concerns are seen as a global issue, our fellow students should take this issue seriously and take part in finding solutions to solve this problem.

It is obvious that an improper waste management technique has a negative impact on the study area's natural environment and sustainable development. Thus, it appears that there is minimal public awareness of the effects of solid waste management on sustainable development or effective environmental development. The two main methods of managing waste are waste storage and primary disposal. As a result, it has created major difficulties in the study area.

Therefore, it is also necessary to integrate public education and well-designed waste management programs into the current waste management system. The importance of solid waste management for sound environmental development in the area must be better understood through awareness campaigns, which must be carried out.
