DA Abrams: please ensure safety of abused pug Benny
The Issue
In a recently publicized video, Solano County, CA resident Brandi Chin can be seen winding up and flinging her pug, Benny, across a driveway. In the clip, Benny can be seen rolling across the blacktop several times before being picked up by an man whom news outlets later identified as Ms. Chin's boyfriend.
This is not the first time that Ms. Chin is suspected of abusing Benny. Sergeant Michael Ramirez with Solano's Humane Animal Services reportedly told FOX40 News that "she was recently seen walking down a business district in Fairfield, and she apparently had the dog by the tail and she was swinging it around."
Despite these examples of abuse, after a veterinarian checked Benny out on New Year's Day-- the same day that the Fairfield Police Department located him-- he was returned to Ms. Chin's boyfriend, and that evening FOX40 News interviewed the pair with Benny at their home.
Benny deserves a home where he can experience nothing but love and care. While this most recent incident did not result in lasting injuries, it is important for him to be placed with someone who values his welfare, before it is too late.
The Fairfield Police Department has made clear that this matter is out of their hands, as the investigation has been turned over to the Solano County District Attorney. Please sign this petition urging D.A. Abrams to thoroughly investigate this incident and take all necessary steps to ensure Benny's safety.
