In recent years there has been an explosion in the development of social media programmes and apps. While these can be useful or at least entertaining I believe especially for young people there are significant dangers. Online activity for young people offers the potential for them to develop relationships with people who mean thrm harm. Online trolling and bullying can be vicious and drive people to suicide. Social media can give a false impression of family and daily life which creates additional pressure on young people and can negatively affect their mental health. Using social media often distracts young people from face to face communication, joining sports clubs and other healthy pursuits.

I strongly believe social media comes with significant dangers for young people which I don't think young people and children are mature enough to recognise. I think a social media ban would encourage better mental health and habits in young people
