Request for Adequate youth mental health treatment & services in NB Canada

Request for Adequate youth mental health treatment & services in NB Canada
The Issue
I am writing to ask for improvements to the broken systems that make up Social Development and Mental health care services in the province of New Brunswick. I will soon be forwarding a petition of signatures of those who feel the same. particularly pertaining to the treatment, and supports, or lack there of, for mentally ill youth in this province.
- Wait times are too long
-Our kids spending years being shuffled from one wait list to another instead of receiving the treatment and support services they need
-Often the families and professionals disagree on what is best
-Service providers are unaccepably under staffed
-Social development is locked into sitting on wait lists from an understaffed provider and unable to use services from multiple providers to serve families needs
-There needs to be a separate set of rules and guidelines for dealing with mentally ill teens than neuro typical teens.
-Service providers are not adequately being trained in crisis intervention
-Emergency after hours crisis intervention is almost non-existant . Mental health after hours mobile crisis is not a 24/7 service and other service providers claim to be under staffed to provide such services.
-Mentally ill youth, grow into mentally ill adults, the need for services does not ever go away, therefore shuffling them from one wait list to another waiting for them to out age the system and no longer be your problem, is not an effective approach.
