Completely fence the playground at North Bend Elementary School

There has been a publicly-recognized rise in the transient population, drug activity and an increase in the number of registered child sex offenders in North Bend recently. Many parents who have children that attend North Bend Elementary want our playground to be fully fenced so that there is a barrier between our children and pedestrian traffic while they are at recess. We want to limit the possibility of a child abduction, the exposure of our children to persons under the influence of heroin or exposure to contact with a local child sex-offender. We are the only school in our district that has a playground with a 250 feet wide area where our children are exposed to pedestrian traffic. There are approximately 100 children on the playground during a recess and between 2 and 4 adults to supervise them. This arrangement is unsafe and inadequate and the School District needs to determine if they are willing to provide fencing for the playground and if so, when they are willing to provide it. A parent advocate formally proposed the building of the fence in January of 2013, approximately 5 months ago. She has not yet received an answer on whether the School District Administration is willing to allocate the necessary funds to build the fence at North Bend Elementary.
