As the honourable supreme Court has passed their order regarding the national eligibility cum entrance test (NEET), many or we could say majority of the citizens of the country are unhappy and disappointed. Though neet is an initiative taken by the government to lessen the burden from student's shoulder by making it a one n only test, it does have so many drawbacks which the government is not paying attention to. Earlier, when students had the privilege to give multiple entrances, they had more chances of selection in one or two of the colleges or universities as they knew how good or bad they had attempted in their tests. But now that probability has declined. And therefore, it has become "one chance or no chance" situation. People say that it used to be a big problem for students to travel from one place to other for multiple entrances. It used to be one of the problems indeed, but the outcome used to be better than what it would be now. Every year, there are around 8-10 lac medical aspirants who want to pursue MBBS or BDS. Out of these lacs of students, approximately 1 lac are selected . These one lac - more than half of them were selected in private medical colleges and quarter was selected for government. Private medical colleges have a very high fee structure all over India, Now if someone from a poor family (not criticizing anyone) qualifies NEET and gets enrolled in a Pvt college , how will she/he be able to pay the fees which is in lacs? Will government help them? Private colleges , have to spend wholesome of money on maintenance of the college, on salary of their lecturers appointed, on everything, If they have spent so much of money on their infrastructure and everything, how can govt ask them or expect them to teach children for free?! Wouldn't that effect these Pvt institutes? Why would they teach for free if they have spent crores in making these institutions? And if they give admission on neet basis, how will these poor children pay the fees then? The state exam should be allowed as it gives student to participate in more than one exam and might prove beneficial for them instead of making it one. We the students have no objection in preparing and writing the exam, but the time when this has been declared was the worst thing we could imagine. These changes were to be made atleast 8-9 months prior to the test so that we could get ample of time to prepare accordingly. But changes ,that too, two days before the exam, it is not justified. We request you to kindly think on this matter again And if possible, conduction of neet shall be initiated from the coming session I.e. 2017-2018 session. It is a request to all the medical aspirants to join this petition so that it reaches to our respectable Education Minister, Smriti Zubin Irani and let's hope for the best or that she would help us out with this situation.
