The SmartPass system currently in use at Oak Middle School needs to be reviewed and potentially eliminated due to crucial privacy concerns. Additionally, the limits imposed by this system are negatively impacting the overall educational experience of our students. Currently, the SmartPass system allows only five time-outs per student, which can significantly limit their educational autonomy and development. This limitation system is restrictive and does not suit the diverse needs of a dynamic learning environment. As per privacy, the tracking capabilities of the SmartPass may infringe on students' rights to privacy. We believe that there should be boundaries concerning the amount of surveillance applied to our children. We request the school administration and local educational authorities to reconsider the use of SmartPass in Oak Middle School.
