Hitherto, President Slyvia Burwell and her administration has egregiously ripped off the student body of American university. With the price of college barely affordable for any family in the country, the decision to enroll here was a thing we have all had to think about with our families thoroughly. We all anticipated receiving a certain amount of value for the money we’re paying. During the first month of this semester, that value is not being given to us. Thus, there is no rational reason we should have no reduction to our tuition.

First of all, some people are not living on campus, but they are required to pay the same price. That is not how fair trade works. If you are paying for something, you are supposed to get something in return. The cost of housing must be reduced for people who are not returning by 1/10.

Secondly, this campus barely has enough food to sustain human life, yet there is no reduction in the cost of our meal plans. Only subway and TDR are open, but we agreed to pay for much more. This is especially problematic for people with certain food accommodations. Regardless, all of us are paying the same and receiving less. Some of us aren’t even here. The cost of the meal plan must be reduced.

Lastly, we agreed to pay for an in-person experience and that is not what we are getting. Classes are online meaning that we are learning less. We are also paying for a social experience that simply does not exist on campus currently. Without a fully operational campus, we are not getting our money’s worth. The cost of tuition must be reduced.

If the prices of these things are not adjusted, we should been given more. For example, we would be content with the meal plan price if you opened up the restaurants. If the school’s administration does not listen we will continue to push back. We are a school made up of angry, young, radical kids who don’t shut up about politics. We’re not going to shut up about this.
