Lord Wandsworth college, to have their phones past 4pm instead of 6pm.
The Issue
The rule has been changed from no use of phones at all until 6pm. During this period everyone is in lessons, eating (can’t have it then) or in house when you can have it. After 6 we are allowed phones in house anyway and therefore the rule which has been ‘changed’ has not actually been changed meaning their is no point for this ‘change’ as we were already allowed it in house.
As our school should be the leading school for pupil voice, I therefore think we as a school should write our own rules to fit us as a community.
In conclusion we should, as a school. Change the rule to 4pm, as firstly It doesn’t effect our learning, secondly it activates people to communicate to ‘meet up’ as without staying in house to message someone we cannot inform our fellow peers to come out of house. Finally I think even if this doesn’t get changed for the whole school I think it should be a 6th form privilege as there are not many at this school.
