Slower night speeds to protect Ocelots in south Texas.
The Issue
On a February morning me and my fiance had a rare encounter with elusive Ocelots in Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge. Alot of people don't know this but Texas has a small population of about 80 or so individuals spread out into small pockets of protected land. The problem is they are most likely to be hit by cars just outside the Refuge. Its the leading cause of deaths. Please sign this petition to ask Texas officials to enforce a slower speed at night well most animals are more active and its harder for humans to see and stop in time. This is a win win solution as it will protect both humans, their property (cars), and all animals in the area but especially the endangered Ocelots. Our solution is a 45mph night speed on roads around the Refuge. From dusk til dawn.
