Skype: Keep it Alive

The Issue

Microsoft is reportedly moving away from Skype, a platform that has connected people across the globe for over 20 years. While newer communication tools exist, Skype remains a vital service in the ecosystem of applications. It is a founding father of modern online communication, and we cannot accept it being swallowed up by hungry business models or lost to history.

We urge Microsoft to keep Skype active and commit to its continued development rather than phasing it out or replacing it with costly subscription-based alternatives.

Why Skype Matters:

 • A Pillar of Digital Communication – Skype paved the way for video calls and online messaging. It is more than just an app—it is a legacy.

 • A Lifeline for Families & Friends – Millions rely on Skype for international calls, keeping them connected to loved ones

 • User-Friendly & Accessible – Unlike many alternatives, Skype offers a simple, intuitive experience without requiring expensive software or subscriptions.

 • No Forced Monthly Fees – Many modern communication apps are shifting toward mandatory subscriptions and paywalls. Skype has always offered a free, open-access model that must be preserved. We refuse to let an essential communication tool become yet another pay-to-use service.

What We Are Asking Microsoft to Do:

 1. Keep online communication through Microsoft SKYPE servers FREE.

2. Publicly commit to maintaining and updating Skype as a viable platform.

 2. Keep Skype accessible without forcing users into expensive subscription models.

Take Action!

All you need as a consumer is WiFi for it!!!! It’s revolutionary and it does not deserve to disappear.
