Skills Against Violence

The Issue

As the founder of "From Ordinary to Extraordinary", an organization catering to domestic violence survivors, I have seen hard evidence of the struggles and hardships faced by this group time and time again. Survivors often feel compelled to uproot their lives completely to ensure safety, leaving behind their homes and workplaces. Shelters cover the housing aspect, but the matter of livelihood is overlooked.

This petition is aimed at addressing exactly that, by providing survivors with the opportunity to learn a skilled trade at no personal cost. Access to such programs would offer survivors the chance to secure an income and sustain independence, all the while feeling empowered by their own capabilities.

According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have experienced some form of physical violence by an intimate partner in the United States alone. These survivors leave behind their past life, hoping to build a new one, free from fear. With support and resources from a program like the one we propose, survivors can move forward in life with strength, self-confidence, and skills to aid their fresh start.

We appeal to nonprofit organizations, governments, and well-meaning individuals to join us in this cause. Offering a stable pathway to the future for survivors of domestic violence is more than charity, it's an investment in the principle of human dignity. Please show your support by signing this petition and together, let us help domestic violence survivors go From Ordinary to Extraordinary.
