I am starting a petition on behalf of all the skaters in my neighbourhood and surrounds. Me and my friends love to have a skate but we are missing having a skatepark within a suitable distance. Mayfield, Lambton, Charlestown and Bar Beach all have their own skate parks but the Merewether/Adamstown area unfortunately has missed out. The proposed skatepark would be a space for both younger kids to learn as well as for us teenagers. It would encourage more kids to get outside, get active as well as hanging out with your friends. I really think Merewether/Adamstown would benefit in many ways from having their own local skatepark. It doesn't have to be huge, just a local space for kids to skate and have fun. Parents most likely would prefer knowing their kids are not too far away from home and it would be a great way to create a sense of belonging in our local community for us teens. With more families moving into the area now is the right time to start lobbying the council to get things happening. Please sign my petition and once I get 300 signatures I will take this to council.
