Veterans Memorial skatepark is flooded by sprinklers every day after school hours (around 3pm) which ruins people trying to enjoy their time there. It also destroys the surface of the park leading to rust and eroded concrete. The wood features are affected too, causing them to wear faster and break. The mid-section of the bmx/scooter side is missing screws and some are even sticking out. I’ve injured myself on one before. This is a matter of public safety and the well being of our skatepark. Low lighting is also a very big issue. With only two lights (one on each side) once the sun goes down you can barely see anything! Just next door at the bmx track, they have multiple very bright lights. As does the baseball fields across the parking lot. Just one of those stadium lights would light the entire park up. I hope that we can get enough signatures in place so that I can take these issues to a City Council meeting and hopefully resolve some if not all.
