Pelican Waters has great parks catering for younger children and adults but more is needed for older children and youths. Currently garden beds are employed as ramps by a few to launch their bicycles while if a skate park was available they could use that rather than inadvertently vandalise the hard work of our Parks and Gardens Department who are doing a great job to create a beautiful environment for all.

Our growing population in the Pelican Waters, Diamond Head and Golden Beach includes ever increasing numbers of young families with older children and youths who are not catered for despite an obvious demand for a facility to use scooters, skateboards and bikes at an appropriate level for their age group. I urge parents and anyone who would use such a facility to sign today and see if we can make it happen.

Who knows with the Olympic Games in South East Qld in 2023 maybe we can develop our own local competitors given the opportunity on the right facility close to home.
