Send Evelyn Walsh and Trennt Michaud to the Olympics
On January 8th, 2022, Canadian Pairs Skaters Evelyn Walsh and Trennt Michaud (20/25) placed 2nd at the Canadian National Figure Skating Championships which should have secured them a spot to Beijing 2022. Unfortunately, Skate Canada did not name them to the Olympic team and in place chose Eric Radford and Vanessa James (36/34) who are both very accomplished skaters, however they withdrew from the Free program and did not earn this spot. Both James and Radford have been to their share of Olympic games with other partners, James representing France and Radford representing Canada.
Walsh and Michaud have shown up for Canada time after time both on the Junior Circuit and the Senior. They have worked undeniably hard over the last several years to qualify for this Olympics and their opportunity was taken from them from a team that came out of retirement and formed this year.
At this point, I'm not sure what can be done, I at least hope this can change the decision making process for the future and give hope to young skaters that their accomplishments wont be taken from them. If you too agree that this is a poor decision, please take the time to sign this.
