Greetings MY Fellow SIUC Black Alumni members, Your By-Laws Committee, as promised at our 2015 general meeting, presents to you our newly revised BAG by-laws. The Mission Statement frames the purpose that our founders had in mind at the inception of our group. The Mission of the Black Alumni Group, also known as BAG, is to maintain, nurture and advance its membership by: Maintaining professional, social and educational relationships developed while attending SIUC and develop a means to recognize member’s outstanding achievements Establishing a networking system to provide assistance, guidance and support to SIUC alumni from the African Diaspora Providing a means to assist SIUC Alumni Association in maintaining, updating and gathering accounts of noteworthy achievements as well as current contact information on graduates and former students Providing a means to assist SIUC in the recruitment, retention, financial assistance and career development of students from the African Diaspora Seeking ways to assist Southern Illinois University Carbondale in its goals of instruction, research and service The Vision is strength through unity of all SIUC Black Alumni and friends. Our, Party with a Purpose will help us maintain our unity and the status of being one of the strongest alumni groups in this country while we support our undergrad students with book scholarships, SBUE scholarships and eventually tuition grants. Your vote is a support of this Vision. Every active member has a voice. Let your voice be heard! The By-Laws Committee recommend that you accept all of the revised amendments.
