Virgin Holidays Please Stop Promoting SeaWorld and Discovery Cove in your Packages.

The Issue

Just recently the captivity of cetaceans has become a topic the public are becoming increasingly more concerned about. With films such as Blackfish and The Cove as well as the recent news coverage of the dolphin capture and slaughter in Japan have meant an increasing boycott of places like SeaWorld and others of the sort.

And for good reason as lonely, boring concrete pools are no place for highly intelligent and social beings. Wild dolphins can travel upto and beyond 40 miles a day and orcas around 100 miles a day in social and or family groups. In a tank none of this can happen. Many captive orcas display a sad thing called dorsal fin collapse, this very rarely happens in the wild but is very common in captivity. They perform daily like a circus and out of bordom or frustration have attacked humans (a trait never seen in the wild).

Today it was brought to my attention that TUI Germany has ended it's support of dolphin attraction and shows.

We would like you, as one of the biggest tour operators to Orlando, Florida to follow suit. It would be fantastic to see such a large company take a stance on animal welfare.

Please, cetaceans belong in the wild!
