PETITION CLOSED - Stop Sir Cliff Richard performing for whale murderers in Faroe Islands

The Issue

PLEASE SEE UPDATE BELOW - CLIFF CARRIED OUT HIS ENGAGEMENT  IN FAROE ISLANDS DESPITE PUBLIC OUTCRY

Sir Cliff Richard is planning to perform this August in the Faroe Islands, a place where year after year unimaginable cruelty takes place in the form of the Grind. This is a so called "tradition" where when pods of Pilot whales are spotted, word is spread to the islanders who quickly form flotillas of boats that set to sea and drive the terrified whales to shore. Once trapped on the beach, cheering hoardes of islanders rush into the water using grappling hooks and knives to hack into the whales and kill them. Even children are brought to watch and cheer on the horrific event as the sea turns red with blood. Up to 1,000 pilot whales are killed by the islanders each year. The islanders claim the whale meat is vital to their economy but in reality very little is consumed and large numbers of whale carcasses have been discovered dumped back in the ocean. Despite worldwide condemnation the Faroe Islanders refuse to stop this barbaric practice. We urge Sir Cliff not to perform there, to do so would be to condone the horrific actions of the Faroese at a time when the whole world is condeming them. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2015/07/24/19/2AD0014E00000578-3173617-Slain_Tied_down_none_of_the_whales_are_able_to_escape_the_locals-a-66_1437762253886.jpg
