Thousands of innocent dogs are being brutally killed in Mauritius and this needs to end now. Catch & kill has been used for over 30 years and DOES NOT work, if it did, the process would not need to be repeated so frequently. MASS sterilisation and education is the ONLY long term solution. When these dogs are caught they are treated appallingly. They should never be subjected to this barbaric and utterly cruel death. Can you imagine how terrified they are. They witness other dogs around them being beaten to death and they are then killed in the same manner. NO dog wants to be a stray. This is a man made problem which needs to be addressed urgently. Why should these innocent souls suffer due to humans selfish behaviour. I want the Mauritian government to start the mass sterilisation programme, as intended by the former government, to stop the catch & kill for good, and to have animal welfare educational classes in EVERY school. More shelters also need to be built to house the current strays. We holidayed in Mauritius last year and we adopted a stray beach dog. The way in which these animals are treated is utterly heartbreaking. Every living soul deserves a right to life. Please help save these dogs from further suffering.
