F&B Bistro & Bars serving alcohol and Transport Industry hard hit by COVID-19 measures
The Issue
F&B Establishments (including Bistros and Bars) and Transport Industry have been hard hit by the current COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) Act 2020 which serving and consumption of alcohol in all Food and Beverage (F&B) establishments after 10.30pm are strictly prohibited.
With the pivoting and exiting strategies provided to Pubs, Nightclub, Bars and Disco (PNDB), most bistro and bars which falls under Food Shop (Restaurant and Snack Counter) are experiencing a severe fall in revenue due to the shortened hours of liquor sale and consumption which are prohibited at 10.30pm. This is not being helped with the fact that landlord are still demanding same or higher rental price with shortened hours of liquor sale and consumption.
We would like to propose for the relevant authorities to consider extending the liquor consumption timing to 11:59pm only for F&B establishment which holds a valid Liquor License which current trading hours are till 2359. For F&B establishment to be able to operate for an extended 1.5 hours, it will boost an additional of revenue for both F&B establishment and transport business particularly after 10.30pm.
The increment of 1.5 hours for sale and consumption of alcohol for F&B establishments will project a minimum of at least 20-30% additional revenue as the crowd usually starts at about 7pm or 7.30pm to 10.30pm as compared to 11.59pm, which will help many F&B establishments serving food and alcohol in its premises.
That being said, we would like to have our objective of having this message sent to the relevant authorities and Government to review on the above.
Please help to share this petition to save our local F&B Establishments and longer operating hours for the Transport industry in this economy which is only dependent mostly on our locals during this COVID-19 era, which provides uncertainty to many industries and economies.
Thank you.
