Every year around 2000 secondary 3 and 4 students work very hard since Jan or even Dec to get ready for the annual Singapore Junior Chemistry Olympiad (SJCHO). However this year, the students were informed in late March that it will be postpone to next year! This means that it will be cancelled this year! The organisers (Singapore National Institute of Chemistry) did not explain the reason for the decision. The most probable reason will be Covid 19.

However the annual Singapore Junior Physics Olympiad, Singapore Junior Biology Olympiad and National Olympiad in Informatics are proceeding this year. To prevent intermingling, they adapted to allow the students to do it online or in their individual schools. If these organisers can put in the extra effort, the organisers of SJCHO should too. Please don't disappoint and let these students' months of hardwork go to waste. Moreover have the organisers ever consider that this is the last chance for the secondary 4 students to take part in it? By postponing it to 2021, you are taking away this last chance from them! Through this petition, I sincerely hope the organisers will carry out SJCHO in 2020 and not 2021. Thank you!
