In a high court decision made on Oct 2 (Friday), the judge overthrown a lower court ruling that Ms Serene Tiong's had not defamed Dr Julian Ong when she claimed that he and Dr Chan Herng Nieng had colluded to take sexual advantage of "other vulnerable female patients". Ms Tiong was also ordered to pay Dr Ong costs of S$40,000 for court proceedings. However, the High Court judge noted while the doctors had a legal victory, they had "no moral victory that they...can hold claim to". High Court judge Justice See Kee Oon said: "They may be competent doctors and their sex lives are of course private matters, but their blatant treatment of women as sex objects sullies whatever professional reputations they have built up for themselves."
