Change Simon Properties Security Protocol

Change Simon Properties Security Protocol
The Issue
On Tuesday, October 12 the South Hills Village Mall received threats of a mass shooting. Our police handled the situation quickly and efficiently, but the security in the mall failed to inform the workers and shoppers about this threat. Luckily, this was only a threat, but it opened a lot of workers eyes to the serious concern we have in regards to our safety in the mall. Workers only found out about the threat after seeing cops in bullet proof vests and rifles walking around. Several of us had to find out from shoppers, and even then security would not inform us of the threat. It wasn’t until after the situation was handled that we found out this person was in the mall. When we questioned our security about how they handled the situation we received little to no response. We are now finding the police issued a lockdown, but this was never communicated to us. We want answers as to why there was a lack of communication and we want to see this policy changed. This same situation happened a few months ago at Ross Park Mall where there was also a lack of communication. Simon has refused to take action to correct their safety protocols and it is putting the workers of these malls in danger. Please help spread the word and hold Simon Properties accountable for these situations.
