Simon Fraser Football - Players, Fans and Friends: Nominate Coach Kevin Phillips for a Simon Fraser University Coaching Position

The Issue

I need to ask a favor from everyone I know who knows anything about football. The coaching staff was fired at SFU, leaving the Head Coach, position open (among others.) Our team has a bunch of players on it from Centennial secondary, who know each other and have played well together. I have submitted a letter to the Athletic Coordinator nominating Coach Kevin Phillips - Centennial's ex- Head coach (who coached all these guys to the first championship in 43 years) for a coaching position at SFU. The guys respect him, and he's an awesome coach and trainer. He was at SFU for 3 years, as recruiting co-ordinator/runningbacks coach. He's very qualified. It makes more sense to me to being in a new coach that knows the players, so that this team can play to its potential, with a groups of guys that mesh real well -- that will play FOR their coach, not just play ball. The position needs to be filled quickly, so the sooner I can get this in -- the better. We'd like the right guy to get in there, for the sake of the boys, and the program. Thanks for any help.

A little about Kevin Coach Phillips:

Kevin Phillips has over 16 years experience in the strength and conditioning industry and over 17 years of football coaching experience. Kevin began his career as a football coach in the Coquitlam Minor Football Association. A year later, he founded Gridiron Performance at its old location in Port Moody, British Columbia. After years of success both in the gym and on the field, Kevin would win a BC AAA football title while head coach of the Centennial Centaurs – a Coquitlam, BC high school. His coaching reputation landed him a job as recruiting coordinator and running backs coach with Simon Fraser University, the first Canadian school to enter the NCAA. However, after a couple years with the school, Kevin decided to pursue his other passion which was training athletes -- to be the the most athletic ones out there. He reopened Gridiron Performance at its current location in January of 2013.
