Petition against current proposed cuts to Adult Care services in Rochdale

save our Homes - No to Council Remodelling proposals

We the undersigned are people being supported, families and Support staff living in Learning Disability Services and supporters, living within the Rochdale Borough.We wish to remain in group homes under the supported living scheme and are totally opposed the council's proposals to CLOSE these homes in favour of CHEAPER options.

These proposals will create poor levels of support and care, threaten the health and well-being of the people using the current services, by moving these people. We believe these moves are grossly irresponsible and are being proposed with no meaningful consultation or realistic assessment, with independent advocacy with all those involved.

It is our belief that the proposals are illegal and outside of the council's "Duty of Care" this would be contrary to current legislation and not in line with the "Stephen Bubb" report which advocates against institutional living settings and for personal choice.
