After the disastrous victory of Donald Trump in the 2016 Presidential election, thanks in no small part to a weak, corrupt and distrusted right-wing Democratic candidate whose nomination occurred under highly dubious circumstances, which has left the DNC discredited and in total disarray, we call for a restoration of sanity, decency and humanity to the increasingly polarized political scene, in which equality, harmony and free speech are all under threat. There is an urgent need to fight back against the demonization of women, African-Americans, Asians, Hispanics, LGBTQ+ people and social justice in general by the resurgent right wing.

Bernie Sanders should and could have been a great President: however, it is unrealistic to expect him to serve from 2020 to 2024 or even 2028, given his age.

We need a uniting candidate who embodies warmth, decency and consideration for their fellow human beings, and who is not a part of any self-serving political, financial or commercial elite - one who is independent-minded and not subservient to the two-party political machine. We need a candidate who will appeal to the forgotten working-class voters of the rust belt, as well as to young liberals and democratic socialists, who will deliver jobs and social justice, not just more globalization and erosion of employment and prosperity. Above all, we need a President who understands the very real value of education, music and cultural activity as essential structural components of a healthy, happy society.

It is our opinion that Dave Grohl is ideally suited to be that candidate. He is renowned for his decency and work ethic, and has been untouched by any accusation of scandal. While he has not held elected office, his universal popularity and his decades' experience and capability in reaching out to huge audiences are tremendous strengths, and he has been an active political campaigner since the 2004 election cycle, when he toured with John Kerry. He also addressed Los Angeles City Council in 2006, using an award presentation to speak of the value of music education. He did not inherit his considerable wealth; he's the son of a working-class school teacher, brought up in the Washington DC area, and earned every cent he possesses through thirty years of sheer hard work, including in several menial low-paid jobs before he became a musician, beginning his career as a penniless drummer touring with Scream. He is therefore significantly more qualified to be President than President-Elect Donald Trump is!

Were Dave to seek the Presidential nomination as an independent candidate affiliated to a suitably reformed Democratic Party, he could well receive the endorsement of President Obama, with whom he is known to enjoy a close friendship. It is even conceivable that the Foo Fighters could continue to perform in line with President Grohl's touring commitments throughout America and overseas.

Lastly, Jordyn Blum Grohl appears to be wholly devoid of any potentially scandalous past for any media or political commentators to rake over, and would make an admirable First Lady. She and her husband are the antithesis of the self-absorbed contemporary celebrity class, as exemplified by Kim Kardashian and her husband Kanye West, who has also speculated about a Presidential run in 2020 - a horrifying prospect indeed!

Come on, Dave, do it - your old home city, your country and the world needs you, now more than ever before!
