As we all have been made aware Silsbee Middle School has adapted a new policy of NO lockers and NO backpacks for the 2018-2019 school year. We as parents need to stand up for our children and the importance of having a back pack big enough for their supplies. The school is allowing drawstring bags, however, have you attempted to fit the 3" binders they require plus take into consideration the various school supplies, library books, lunch kits, chrome books, gym clothes, etc.  What are the children suppose to do at this point? Carry the items stacked to their chin putting more pressure on their spine or shoving some of the items in their drawstring bags and the ropes digging into their shoulders? or the fact of them being even more unorganized? Not to mention the Chrome books that I don't know if you want to but I'm not interested in replacing if they are lost/stolen because they are just out in the open; Not stored properly! Think about it how many times has a child "accidentally" grabbed something that doesn't belong to them by accident? lunch kit? binder? etc?

It is time for us as parents to stand up for our children starting with this. Join with me in signing the petition as well as filing a LEVEL 1 GRIEVANCE WITH THE MIDDLE SCHOOL to speak to the principal and if that does not make the change filing a LEVEL 2 GRIEVANCE with the superintendent and finally a LEVEL 3 GRIEVANCE to speak directly in front of our voices the Silsbee School Board.
