We are raising this petition out of deep concern for the animals. As students, we find it troubling to see the many animals experience multiple abuse and can do nothing but wail in pain and agony. I'm taking a stand against the harsh realities they endure daily. If you have ever witnessed an animal struggling to survive due to neglect, cruelty, or human exploitation, now is the time to act.
Animal cruelty comes in many disguises—neglect, abandonment, exploitation, and even well-meaning but harmful behavior. All animals, be they cats or dogs, horses or cattle, deserve respect, care, and protection. The sad truth is that only a small percentage of cases of abuse are ever reported, and fewer still are brought to justice.
According to Shelters Animal Counts (SAC), at least one animal is abused every 60 seconds globally. More than 110 million animals suffer and die in laboratories each year due to testing for chemicals, cosmetics, food, and drugs. Beyond that, stray animals endure starvation, disease, and violence on the streets, while many pets experience neglect and mistreatment in their own homes.
What We Are Fighting For:
- Tougher animal cruelty laws – Higher penalties and enforcement to stop the cruelty.
- Ban animal testing – Promote humane alternatives for research and product testing.
- Shelter and rescue support – More funding and visibility for animal protection organizations.
- Responsible pet ownership – Promote spaying/neutering, adoption, and proper pet care education.
Why This Matters:
The manner in which we treat animals speaks volumes about our humanity. No animal should endure suffering in silence, and no act of cruelty should be allowed to go unpunished. If we stand up today, we can create a future where all animals are treated with the respect and compassion they deserve.
