Sign To Stop Attack On Local Clean Energy In California SB 237 Committee Votes Next Month!

The Issue

Sign to stop SB 237, a fossil fuel industry giveaway that will kill local clean energy in California!

Next month the California Assembly Appropriations Committee will vote on a zombie bill (originally from 2015) that will remove all restrictions on the sale of polluting fossil fuel based 'Direct Access' electricity from large private energy corporations to big commercial customers.

'Direct Access' means that big dirty energy corporations can sell polluting electricity directly to other corporations at dirt cheap prices, without supporting local community energy programs at all. This would put California's booming local clean energy movement out of business!

SB 237 would decimate community based clean energy programs by stealing all large commercial customers away from them, undermine renewable mandates by favoring fossil fuel corporations, perpetuate fire dangers by entrenching dependence on dangerous long range transmission lines, and could trigger another California energy crisis by collapsing the state's clean energy market.
