The Issue

Bunny Puffs Exotic Refuge is a federally registered 501c3 charity animal rescue that has been operating and serving the middle TN community since 2018.

Based out of their 4.78 acre homestead in rural Springfield, TN since 2021, the small private rescue provides an essential service to the middle TN community by taking in some of the most overlooked but most numerous animals in the area; unwanted "farm pets".

From chickens to ducks, goats to guinea pigs- and of course Bunnies- the homebased rescue provides a vital first step temporary home for the unwanted animals that would otherwise end up in limbo, as most local animal control agencies are centered around cats and dogs and are not always equipped to take in and care for these kinds of creatures. Not only is this a crucial service for the animal, but it helps offset the weight on the already overburdened animal control agencies in the area; who themselves, along with many local veterinary clinics, often direct surrenders of these animals to the rescue.

Working in conjunction with animal control, veterinary clinics, and other private rescues across the state and country, Bunny Puffs provides a quiet place away from humans for animals that are being vetted and houses them as they find long term fosters and permanent placement homes. The owners of the rescue also give offsite educational talks at various community events to groups of children and parents, hobbyists, and pet owners alike on how to properly care for their animals, a service which has significant impact in keeping animals from becoming dumped or surrendered.

Unfortunately, Bunny Puffs has become the target of a grinchly neighbor, who has lobbied complaint after complaint against this small- yet far reaching- charity and the local community board has decided to listen. With a hearing date of 05/15/23, Bunny Puff's is now facing the very real possibility of having to close its doors and remove all animals from the property.

Please take a moment to sign this petition in support of Bunny Puffs and the meaningful work they do.
