The Issue

Hey everyone, today we're gathered here at the Martin Luther King Junior Plaza in Stockton CA to honor those we've lost to fentanyl addiction and overdose/ poisoning . As someone deeply affected by this crisis, I want to shine a light on the urgent need for more resources for those battling addiction. We're here to say we see you, hear you, and care about every life.

Our community has been hit hard, and it's evident we need change. Programs like Lotus Rising Recovery and PassionandPurpose are making a difference, and yet, we need more support. Recovery is a journey requiring resources and frameworks to guide individuals towards sobriety and healing. When we come together, recognizing the pain and potential of each person, we strengthen the fabric of our community.

Too often, those struggling with addiction feel trapped, with nowhere to turn. We hear stories like Zach's, and his dad Jerry, who lost his life battling addiction. These stories remind us of the deep roots and harsh realities of substance abuse. They also highlight the need for increased funding and support for organizations that help individuals reclaim their lives.

Programs that facilitate recovery are a lifeline, but they're not enough alone. We can do more. Increasing funding for addiction recovery programs can save lives, provide hope to struggling individuals, and support families who have lost loved ones to this crisis. It's a step toward a future where every person battling addiction has the opportunity to recover.

Join me in urging local officials to invest in addiction recovery resources here in Stockton, CA. Let's ensure that everyone who needs help can find it—because every life matters. Sign this petition and help build a stronger, healthier community for all.
