This morning, as our number of signatures reaches the 400 mark, I found myself going from anger to tears as I did a Google search for anything that includes Fire Patrolman Keith Roma among those who gave their lives in service to others on September 11, 2001 with Fire Patrol 2 alongside fellow firefighters from the Fire Department of New York.
I became angry because his name was not in the list of firefighters or police officers or even civilians on sites like Hero Portraits. I became angry because his name was not listed on Wikipedia.
Here is a quote from Wikipedia:
"Of the 2,977 victims killed in the September 11 attacks, 411 were emergency workers in New York City who responded to the World Trade Center. This included:
343 firefighters (including a chaplain and two paramedics) of the New York City Fire Department (FDNY)
37 police officers of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Police Department (PAPD)
23 police officers of the New York City Police Department (NYPD)
and
8 emergency medical technicians and paramedics from private emergency medical services"
WHAT?!!! How can they leave ANYONE out?!
This is a true disgrace and, so far, 400 people agree with us.
After getting angry, and continuing my Google search I found this beautiful video by Keith's father, Arnold, that was posted two years ago.
I went from anger to tears.
If you are reading this PLEASE SHARE THE PETITION. Thank you all for your support. I know many of you are firefighters and emergency workers. You are all heroes. You are all doing heroic and amazing things on a regular basis. We salute and thank every one of you.
Thank you.
