Hi everyone,
Don Harwin, the white, non-Aboriginal Minister for Aboriginal Affairs does NOT support having the Aboriginal flag on the Harbour Bridge permanently.
This is despite him previously saying in an interview:
“As my career has developed I feel a strong responsibility to not pull the ladder up behind me, but extend it down for others.”
Clearly, the ladder of equality does not, for him, yet extend to the Aboriginal constituents he’s supposed to represent.
Please can you email him today and ask him in your own words why he doesn’t support this?

As journalist Gary Nunn writes in today’s Sydney Morning Herald [https://www.smh.com.au/national/nsw/the-aboriginal-flag-should-fly-on-the-sydney-harbour-bridge-every-day-20200123-p53u23.html
“If Environment Minister Matt Kean can risk the wrath of his boss to stick up for the environment by calling for more urgent action on climate change, the Aboriginal Affairs Minister should do the same for Aboriginal people.”
“His could be a powerful whisper in Berejiklian’s ear, a significant signature on the petition and an influential public supporter of Toka’s campaign.”
Thank you!
Cheree
