The Aboriginal flag will be raised on the Harbour Bridge this Sunday January 26 2020.

Our Premier is still ignoring us and now the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, Don Harwin has completely dismissed the idea. He said “My position is the same as my Premier’s.” This is despite him previously giving an interview to the Star Observer as an openly gay politician backing marriage equality saying: “As my career has developed I feel a strong responsibility to not pull the ladder up behind me, but extend it down for others.” - Freelance writer, former Change.org Director Of Communications.

In another interview with ABC News regarding the ‘Sydney statues of colonial leaders in spotlight again’ Don Harwin said: "It is clear there is scope for better representation of First Nations people when it comes to public displays and monuments acknowledging our nation's history." – Jessica Kidd.

As the Minister responsible for representing Aboriginal people, it'd be great if he could actually listen to indigenous voices who are united in calling for this. It'd be good to know whether he is genuine about these comments, or is simply not interested in the recognition of First Nations Peoples.

Please make your conversation personal and share why it would be meaningful for you to see the Aboriginal flag permanently raised. 

Some key messages could be:

o   We would like to see visible permanent recognition of the First Nations people on our most iconic landmark.

o  If the flag is good enough to fly on Australia Day, it is good enough to fly all year round.

o  This is a unifying gesture and public display of commitment to reconciliation.

o  It's a chance to be proud and celebrate the oldest Ancient living culture in the world.
