An 8.00am meeting with journalist Jasbir Authi from The Birmingham Mail/Birmingham Live gave a number of Quinton residents an opportunity to voice their shared concerns about the proposed development. These included road safety, environmental and parking issues. The timing of the meeting demonstrated just how busy this residential stretch of road gets when people are making their way out on school and work commutes. The possible future impact of cars pulling out of this site, virtually onto a blind bend, is a factor that really needs to be considered by Birmingham City Council. Moreover, the background roar of the M5 is a far from ideal backdrop for new flats. The residents were grateful to Counillors Sam Forsyth and Lauren Rainbow for their continued support and for joining us this morning.
This afternoon, I have emailed the authors of the Planning Statement, informing them that the site is now attracting fly-tipping. The statement says that the site is fenced and secure - but it hasn't been for a long time! I have suggested that the company contact their client, (the applicant), with a view to swiftly carrying out proper remedial work to the boundary fence to stop further fly-tipping.
