What's next? I am preparing to approach a Victorian MP and request sponsorship to have the petition formally addressed as a Parliamentary petition. This means the petition will be read in the Parliament.

What happens when a petition is presented in Parliament? After closing, the petition will be presented by a member in Parliament. This means that the petition: 

• Is officially recorded by the Parliament.
• Becomes part of the public record.
• A copy of the petition will be sent to the relevant minister.
• In the Council, the Minister is required to provide a written response within 30 days.
• The response will be published on the Parliament website once received.

Please continue sharing the petition to raise awareness that the Victorian Government should seriously reconsider allocating over $100,000 of taxpayer money to honour a figure whose legacy is marred by controversy, authoritarian policies, serious human rights violations, and crippling policy failures. This is not an investment that reflects the values of the people of Victoria.
