We are excited to report that AIA Canada’s right to repair petition has been presented to Parliament! Over 1700 Canadians signed on, more than three times the number of signatures needed to be presented in the House of Commons. The government now has 45 days to respond.
This success was the direct result of the efforts of AIA Canada members and concerned citizens like you. Thank you for your support.
The right to repair is important to Canadian vehicle owners and to the automotive aftermarket industry, and support for it is growing. Now is the time to increase our efforts to raise awareness and build momentum. For that, we need your help!
We’ve launched a website dedicated to this issue, that gives you the tools you need to talk about the right to repair with clients and colleagues – and most importantly, with your Member of Parliament (MP).
The petition was just the first step. Legislation will be actively considered in the fall, but without amendments, it will not make sense for the industry or Canadian consumers. This means we need to reach as many MPs as possible this summer while they are home in their ridings.
How you can get involved:
- Write an email
- Make a phone call
- Request a meeting
- Invite your MP to tour your shop
- Send a Tweet
We need all MPs to stand up for vehicle owners and the aftermarket, and support right to repair legislation in Canada that our petition demanded. We need to make sure they understand what’s at stake.
Help make that happen! Find out how at righttorepair.ca.
