GOOD NEWS ALERT:
We filed applications to fast track the release of Carol and her mother in court this morning. Our applications were certified as urgent by their respective magistrates. Carol and her mother will appear in court on Wednesday (30th November/Kesho kutwa) where I'll plead with the court to review their bail terms or give us the option of posting bond.
If successful, we might have them released soon thereafter but of course, there are no guarantees. We are still raising funds to go towards securing their release. In the spirit of accountability as promised, the current MPESA cash in hand is Kshs.77,039/- and so far we've spent 13,200/- as follows:
1. KSHS.3,000/- Paid to the judiciary via their official paybill number for filling two applications to court at 1,500/- each;
2. 10,000/- as a deposit to source and hire a title deed from a neighbour who's willing to come in as a surety for Carol and have the title deposited in court until the end of the case (however long it takes) in case we are allowed to post bail for her release. We did this because we needed to have it valued ahead of Wednesday's hearing so that Carol doesn't spend any extra nights at King'ong'o Prison remand if all goes well.
3. Kshs 200 paid for courier services to send the documents from Nairobi to Nyeri
