The Issue
If you are a USM student, please use 37 College Ave, Gorham, ME 04038 as your address. This will help us verify that you are a USM student, Thank You!
The Sign For Equality Campaign is an effort headed by the Queer Straight Alliance at the University of Southern Maine to gain support for Marriage Equality in the state of Maine. This petition is specifically geared toward USM students and faculty members, but others welcome to sign! This is an important issue and we need all the support we can get!
Please note that by signing this petition, you are agreeing to and stating:
As a native Mainer, or someone who has adopted this state to seek my education, I believe that Maine is a place where fairness and respect matter. As a future and/or current member of a Maine family, it is important to me that this state embraces and expands a culture of fairness and respect. I offer my name in support of full equality for all loving, committed couples in Maine, including the thousands of same-sex couples already living here.
I ask my fellow students, friends and neighbors to join me to help end the exclusion of gay and lesbian Mainers and their families from marriage. I agree that my signature/name in support of the above statement may be reprinted in the USM Free Press and redistributed by USM’s Queer Straight Alliance as part of efforts to increase support for marriage equality on campus and elsewhere.
