Last Tuesday afternoon the Assembly Health Committee passed AB2125 18-0. California Healthy Nail Salon Collaborative members and supporters from Oakland, Marin, San Jose and Sacramento mobilized to show strength in numbers at the hearing. Some of our nail salon owner/worker members took time off of work to advocate for the nail salon community. This is the first in a series of legislative steps that needed for the Healthy Nail Salon Act to become law and it's a good one. In her hearing remarks CA Healthy Nail Salon Collaborative Julia Liou mentioned the organizational letters of support and over 300 petition signatures from all over the state. We also saw a lot of activity about the bill on social media, including some of you tweeting your Assemblymember to vote for the bill.
