Dear Sierra Leonean in the Diaspora; As you may already know the National Electoral Commission (NEC) totally ignored our letters and petition imploring them to provide facilities for Sierra Leoneans living in the diaspora to vote. They did not even acknowledge receipt of our letters or petition. As a result we have filed an injunction in the high court of Sierra Leone to implore the NEC to provide the necessary infrastructure for Sierra Leoneans in the diaspora to exercise their constitutional right to register and vote in the upcoming national elections. The lawyers representing Sierra Leoneans in the diaspora intend to pursue this matter all the way to the ECOWAS court if deemed necessary. Even though they are working pro bono we don't want to take advantage of their generosity and have them dipping into their pockets to cover the administrative and logistical costs of prosecuting the case so we are asking for a contribution to help us prosecute the case.
