Immediate distribution of BGL certificates to Law students of Mumbai University
Immediate distribution of BGL certificates to Law students of Mumbai University
The Issue
Dear All Law Students -
I wrote a letter to the Vice Chancellor of Mumbai University and the Secretary of Bar Council of India, to address our concerns, but till date we have not received any response from them.
This is to bring to your kind notice that, University of Mumbai has not yet distributed Bachelor of General Law (BGL) degree certificates to all the law students who have successfully completed their Semester VI of BLS and Semester IV of LLB for this academic year.
As per Union Grant Commission Gazette Notification No. F.1-59/66(CDN) dated 22nd December, 1969, these academic years as mentioned above, involve the conferring of crucial degree, that is the Bachelor of General Laws after the completion of Semesters 5 and 6 of the 5-years BLS course and after the completion of Semesters 3 and 4 of the 3-years LLB course.
Now, more than 6 months have past, but nothing has been communicated neither to the Law Students nor any Law colleges.I personally met and inquired twice regarding the same, with Shri. Arjun Ghatule- Ex. Director of BOEE and Shri. Vinod Patil who has recently taken charge of Director of BOEE, but no action has been taken till date.
Also, along with the above, following concerns need to be addressed immediately by MU-
a. In the Law Examination of second half of (Winter) 2018- A lot of mistakes were committed in the question paper of Transfer of Property Act - Sem III (25 marks Marathi paper was incorrect) and Interpretation of Statutes -Sem-IV (5 marks question was not properly translated in Marathi language)
b. Master of Law (LLM) Students demand, that the question paper should be printed in Marathi Language.
The University and its office bearers have time and again ,continuously ignored our above demands, and if they do not take favorable decision within 7 days of this petition,we the law students of Mumbai University, will be left with no option but to begin a strong protest and agitation against the University of Mumbai.
Request all the Law students to sign this petition in majority, so that we can submit before the Chancellor of Mumbai University(Governor) and Secretary of Bar Council of India.
