Recently there has been a reported case of coronavirus at Footaction inside the Westfield Santa Anita Mall in Arcadia, CA. There have been numerous rumored cases as well. A lot of stores are not requiring for customers to wear masks and employees are terrified to be working in this environment. Stores are asking that customers wear masks but are not enforcing this rule and as a result many employees are being unnecessarily exposed to the virus. Most stores are also not offering any sort of hazard pay or compensation for working during the pandemic. For the stores that will be reopening soon, employees will be forced to return to work despite any fear or concerns or they will face termination and will no longer be able to collect unemployment. Malls are extremely high risk and there is no reason why they should be opening so soon and putting hundreds of employees and their households at risk. Cases are still spiking and we are just as much at risk now as we were back in March when the lockdown began. Please help protect the employees of the Santa Anita Mall and sign this petition if you are in favor of the mall closing back down.
